I am a self-described chronic super do-it-yourselfer. Here are some adjectives and phrases that further describe me: technophile; gadget enthusiast; frugal but insists on quality; perfectionist; like a dog with a bone; problem solver; movie lover; and technically minded. I love to build anything as a long, as I have a good set of instructions, from making cakes from scratch to digging a 30-foot well you give me a good manual and I can do it.
This project originated, in 2002, from an attraction at Disney’s Epcot Center called the Ultimate Home Theater and from a display at the Home Depot’s Expo Center. I had been planning on buying a large screen plasma television, however after being inside of a dedicated home theater I knew I had to have one. Also, the more research I did on the longevity and the price of plasma televisions it became clear that in the long run this wasn’t the best course of action. The only problem is that it would take about $17,000.00 to turn my 13’ x 19’ room into a dedicated home theater room. So due to the price we decided to wait and save more money. However, in the meantime I decided further educate myself on dedicated home theaters, so I would know exactly what I wanted when I was ready to buy.
Through my research I discovered that were many good ideas out there for building pieces of a dedicated home theater but there wasn’t a comprehensive guide or a book for the do-it-yourselfer. There still isn’t, until now. So, with building my dedicated home theater room I drew upon information gleaned from: home theater forums; acoustic manufactures; home theater design web sites; digital projector review web sites; and I even developed in a few clever money saving ideas myself.
I believe in treating others the way you want to be treated. There is nothing too loose. So, if you think I missed some of the letters between A and Z then I’ll gladly refund your money back. No Questions, No Problem. Its 100% Risk Free.
